Studies over 40 years have shown that a daily serving of 10g of dried LC has proven effective in:

  • alleviating deficiencies in vitamin A and iron;
  • improving general health;
  • resisting infection;
  • accelerating recovery.

Over the last 10 years in Burkina Faso, communities have found that the incidence of noma (cancrum oris, an oral gangrene) has been eliminated when LC is consumed regularly.

In Cameroon and Burundi, recent trials have shown positive effects in people living with HIV/AIDS.
